Hesitant To Take Medicines Call Dr. Nature for Help

Most of us are apprehensive about taking medicines because of their side effects and long term complications. So, does nature has something better to offer for us?

Antibiotics, analgesics and antipyretics – advancement in medicine has flooded the market with all sort of medicines. We pop in medicines like candies even for the mildest pain. Excessive and unmonitored use of antibiotics is leading to a serious problem of antibiotic resistance. Although some infections can only be treated with antibiotics, over use of such drugs is dangerous.

Don’t you get worried, when you read or get to know about the side effects of these medicines from somewhere? Don’t you ever search for the alternatives? And this is what diverts us to natural products. Nature has bestowed us with a range of plants and their products, most of them being used for their medicinal value since centauries. Although there are many problems which have to be urgently treated with modern medicines, some of the problems can be taken care of by natural remedies alone.

Be it a minor health ailment or a major problem, there are many home remedies that you can follow, some of which include:

Honey for Bad Throat

Cough syrups make you go sleepy? Honey is nature’s sweetest medicine and can help relieve a scratchy throat due to its antibacterial properties. Stir two teaspoons of honey into warm water or herbal tea, and sip a cup every two to three hours as needed.

Gingerginger

Exercising after a long time? Scared of after work out pains? Ginger is to the rescue! The anti inflammatory properties of ginger reduce pain 25 % more as compared to people who don’t consume it. Apart from this ginger also relieves nausea and motion sickness.

Kiwikiwi

Not the bird but Kiwi- the Vitamin C rich fruit. If your air travels are keeping you from managing your sleep cycles, Kiwi is your sleep potion. It is helpful in jetlag as it boosts up the level of sleep inducing serotonin (a neurotransmitter).

Pumpkins seeds

Wonder where Cinderella put all the pumpkin seeds after making the pumpkin chariot, because those aren’t worth wasting. Pumpkin seeds are rich in magnesium which provides relief from headache and migraine. You can sprinkle some on your salad or bake them in a desert.

Almondsalmonds

This is a super nut. Its benefits are numerous. Apart from raising the good cholesterol and enhancing memory, almonds have been found to be good for women. Riboflavin found in almonds reduces the PMS and also provide relief from killer cramps.

Beans

Your heart loves beans and so does your digestive system. Rich in proteins and fiber, beans help in proper digestion of food and prevents heart burn.

Hence, natural remedies come in handy to treat day to day problems. These have no side effects and are mostly available in every kitchen. So before you run to the drug store for your common cough and cold medicines, consider paying a visit to your kitchen.
