Sound sleep at night results in fresh morning. If your sleep is not peaceful it can make you irritated, and sleepy on following day. Insomnia is one sleep disorder that doesn’t allow you to sleep well. This disorder affects both your mental as well as physical health. It is a very common problem these days. Insomnia patients usually wake up at night or early morning and face problem in going back to sleep again.

Significant reasons of stress like losing a job or other emotional disturbance in life leads to insomnia. Breaking up of love relations, divorce or death of loved ones may cause sleeplessness or irregular sleep.
Disease or other medication
Medicinal drugs for other disease can also interfere in your sleep and lead to insomnia.
Factors like light, noise can also cause insomnia. Temperature variations light, noise, hot or cold weathers can disturb your sleep.
Change in daily routine
A sudden change in daily routine could be reason for in adequate sleep. Change in job shift from day to night or a new workout plan can alter your sleep.
Depression or anxiety
Daily anxiety or traumatic anxieties can also causes insomnia. Mental disorders like depression result in either too much of sleep or insomnia.
If body is uneasy at night due to sickness or any other reason like uncomfortable bed, this may result in irregular sleep.
Bad eating habits
Taking caffeinated drinks like coffee, tea or cola before going to bed keeps you awake at night. Taking heavy diet before sleep can make you uncomfortable while sleeping.
Acute and transient insomnia can be cured by few changes in life style. Good sleeping habits can help you in preventing it. If it still persists you can go for mild sleeping pills prescribed by the doctor. Avoid relying on sleeping pills as body may become habitual of it and loose its effectiveness gradually.
Behavioural therapy can help treating insomnia. In such therapies patients are taught better sleeping habits and relaxation methods. In some cases, anti-depressants are also recommended by doctors. They give a sedative effect to patient and reduce anxiety. If insomnia is because of other illness then you must consult doctor for its treatment or change the prescription of medicine to give you a good sound sleep.
